QUALIFIED CERTIFICATES FOR WEBSITE AUTHENTICATION

Qualified certificates for website authentication also called SSL or TLS certificates (Secure Socket Layer or Transport Layer Security) are used to establish an encrypted connection between a browser or user's computer and a server or website. A server key is used to encrypt a unique symmetrical session key which then secures all communication between server/website and client. In addition to this, the server certificate confirms that the server key really does belong to the organization or assures the individual or end-user that he has established secure communication with an organisation. The SSL/TLS connection therefore protects sensitive data, such as credit card information, exchanged during each visit, which is called a session, from being intercepted from non-authorized parties.
